Skullcandy is one of the original pioneers in the world of portable audio, and is one of the few American based companies that has managed to remain fairly relevant. The Indy Evo and Sesh Evo earbuds were released in 2020, and are now a bit dated by this market’s standards, but are still both quite popular sellers, mainly because they still offer great durability and weatherproofing that’s ideal for rugged outdoor use at an affordable price.

I have reviewed both the Indy Evo and Sesh Evo – is one significantly better than the other? A lot of people ask, and that’s what this article will expound.

What Are the Main Differences Between the Skullcandy Indy Evo and Sesh Evo?

The Indy Evo and Sesh Evo are very similar spec wise – they have the same Bluetooth version, same firmware with the same features, same basic control schematic, same IP55 weatherproofing, same relatively decent isolation, and about the same battery capacity.

The only significant difference between the two really is the build/design style – the Sesh Evo uses a pure earphone style bud whereas the Indy Evo buds have stems. The Sesh Evo also has pressable buttons to control them while the Indy Evo is purely touch based.

The Indy Evo case is also a little more compact and ergonomic with the rounded edges, whereas the Sesh Evo case is pretty big and bulky and might not fit in a pocket so easily.

Does the Skullcandy Indy Evo or Sesh Evo Have Better Fit and Comfort?

I think the Indy Evo fits better than the Sesh Evo. The Sesh Evo has a kind of weird ergonomic design with the nozzles angled inward that makes the buds sit awkwardly in the concha of the ear once a seal is achieved.

Does the Skullcandy Sesh Evo or the Indy Evo Sound Better?

The Indy Evo definitely sounds better than the Sesh Evo, which as I said in my full review really does not sound that good for its price-point, especially now three years after its original release. The Sesh Evo has a significant lack of clarity and just sounds kind of muffled. The Indy Evo, however, does much better there and actually sounds very solid at the same price-point, but still not best in class in my opinion.

Which Is Ultimately the Better Choice: The Skullcandy Sesh Evo or Indy Evo?

I would say the Indy Evo is pretty clearly the better choice of the two – they have the same specs and features, but the Indy Evo has better fit and noticeably better sound quality. I wouldn’t say the Sesh Evo is worth the money at this point, but, the Indy Evo could still be, especially if someone wants something bulker and with nice long stems. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see updated versions of both of these products in the near future.
