Power: 8/10 – The RS6 has a 150 watt peak power and a frequency response range of 66 Hz – 21,000 Hz. Unfortunately the manufacturer doesn’t specify the nominal operating power, but realistically it’s probably around the 50-70 watt range. A set of two of these will definitely fill a mid sized backyard with premium high quality sound.
Aesthetics & Style: 5/5 – We had to give this speaker a perfect score here because not only does it incorporate the cool rock look to blend in with your backyard, but it also comes in 4 different colors.
Portability & Convenience: 3.5/5 – This speaker is 11 x 14 x 12 inches and weighs 22 pounds, so it’s a bit on the bulkier side. Also, an on ground outdoor speaker can be a bit of a challenge to wire properly, which should be considered.
Durability: 5/5 – This speaker is truly built to last a lifetime in even the roughest outdoor conditions. It has weatherproof paint, and is fully water, sunlight, and debris resistant, and surpasses Military Standard 883 for corrosion resistance.
Warranty: 5/5 – Niles truly believes in the quality of it’s products, as all of their loudspeakers have lifetime warranty, including their outdoor speakers such as the RS6.
Price: 8/10 – The price for this unit recently went down considerably on Amazon.com, and for the specs this speaker brings it is a great deal at $200 and change.
Amazon Average User Rating: 4.9/5 – You can read the Amazon.com reviews here.
Bottom Line – 8.8/10
Niles makes very solid rock speakers, and the RS6 is a great choice if you’re looking for an aesthetic speaker to blend with your backyard. Our only hesitation in recommending this is simply that the Klipsch AWR-650-SM rock speaker currently sells for slightly less and is more powerful than the Niles RS6, and Klipsch has a similar lifetime warranty on it’s outdoor speakers. You really can’t go wrong with either product though, and we recommend just getting whichever is cheapest at the time.
